These summons point to a mysterious power, the reformist member of Parliament, Fatemeh Rakei said today. According to the IRI Law Enforcement Force’s Director of PR: “Summoning journalists and lawyers to the Public Places Supervision Office was done by a court order in relation to the investigation on a particular case." His statement for the first time links the Judiciary to the Pubilc Places Supervison Office. While no particular judge or case were mentioned, reformists believe the summons are a part of a large plan to discredit writers and human rights activists through a propaganda trial. Reform MP’s are confused about which authority or official they can blame and hold answerable for the interrogations. Reformist newspaper Nowruz published a list of 18 who were summoned so far, trying to surmise the motive behind the summons by comparing their stories of insults and threats, as well as the sometimes incompetence of the basement interrogators.</TEXT></ENGLISH>
