An Iranian News agency, Mehr, reports that a top Iraqi spy was arrested in western Iran. Mehr quoted informed security sources as saying that the unnamed man was sent to the border province of Kurdistan on behalf of Iraqi interim Defence Minister Hazem al-Shaalan to forge documents to prove al-Shaalan's charges against Iran.
The claim by Mehr could not be independently confirmed.
The Iraqi defence minister has several times accused Iran of being behind the unrest in Iraq and in contact with insurgents.
Teheran has, however, consistently rejected the charges.

Mehr also reported that discovered documents are revealing details about plans to smuggle arms into Iran under the supervision of al-Shaalan.
No officials have so far confirmed or denied the Mehr report.
