Tajik, Iranian and Russian energy officials are gathered in the Tajik capital Dushanbe today to discuss the joint construction of a hydropower plant in Tajikistan. Tajikistan's minister of power engineering (Jarabek Nurmahmadov),Iran's energy minister (Habibullah Bitaraf) and the head of Russia's Unified Energy Systems company (Anatoli Chubais) are to finally settle financial matters concerning the joint construction of the Sangtuda plant, a 670-megawatt hydroelectric facility located south of the Tajik capital.
Russia has more than a 50 percent stake in the project.
