An Iranian has pleaded guilty in an American federal court to money laundering and attempting to smuggle fighter jet parts to his homeland.
Abbas Tavakolian was arrested in December after meeting with federal undercover agents involved in the operation to catch the 58-year-old Iranian.
Tavakolian pleaded guilty in a federal court in the eastern city of Baltimore yesterday as part of a plea bargain. Under its terms, his sentence will likely be lowered to between 46 and 57 months. Sentencing is set for July 6.
