Iranian Foreign Minister Kamal Kharazi arrived in Baghdad today for a one-day visit, marking the highest level visit by an Iranian official to Iraq since Saddam Hussein's ouster. Kharazi was due to meet with top Iraqi officials, including Prime Minister Ibrahim al-Jafari, President Jalal Talabani and Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari, to discuss a number of issues.
Zebari said among the issues would be non-interference, cooperation, the economy and settling any lingering matters connected to the eight-year Iran-Iraq war of the 1980s.
Kharazi's visit comes two days after U.S. Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice made a visit to Iraq.
