Veteran journalist Siamak Pourzand, 74, who received a spinal surgery two months ago, after falling ill in jail, was returned to hospital two weeks ago to deal with blood clogs in his legs, his Toronto-based daughter Leyli Pourzand tells Radio Farda.
The doctors prescribed two months of full rest, which may have to be extended to six months or a year, she adds. In Tehran, Pourzand’s older sister Mahin is caring for her brother, she says. Pourzand is out of jail on medical furlough, she adds. Pourzand was sentenced to 11 years in jail on charges of aiding anti-regime propaganda. (Maryam Aghvami, Toronto)
