The Majles is ready to ratify the additional protocol to the UN Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, deputy speaker of the Majles Mohammad-Reza Bahonar said on Thursday, in what appeared a reversal of formerly expressed position of the Majles conservatives. However, Bahonar said the treaty will be ratified only if the IAEA remains faithful to its commitments to Iran. He did not elaborate. The regime’s conservative faction campaigned againt the additional protocol, which allows impromptu visits by UN inspectors to Iran’s nuclear sites.
