REGION: Iraqi Interior Minister Accuses Iran's Islamic Republic of Interfering

July 18, 2004 - The Islamic Republic’s role in fomenting disorder in Iraq is quite big, Iraq’s interior minister Falah al-Naqib said in an interview with the London daily Asharq-al-Awsat. He admitted that the statement would cause him political trouble. He added that many foreigners, some of whom Iranians, have been arrested for terrorist acts inside Iraq. He criticized the “damaging” style of the Arabic satellite news channels beaming to Iraq.
