ENERGY: Private Airlines Threaten to Suspend Flights in Protest against Fuel Cost


August 20, 2004 - Protesting against the rising fuel costs and oil ministry’s dual price policy for jet fuel, private airlines Aseman, Caspian, Mahan and Kish Air threatened to suspend their domestic flights. The oil ministry charges state-owned airlines 800 rials ($1) for a liter of jet fuel, for which private airlines have to pay 2,340 rials.
