Nobel Prize Winner Ebadi accuses Iranian judiciary of violating law

Nobel Peace Prize winner Shirin Ebadi today accused the Iranian judiciary of having violated the law by summoning her to appear before the Revolutionary Court. Ebadi told the students' news agency ISNA that the Revolutionary Court is not in charge of private complaints. Ebadi was summoned to the Revolutionary Court over a private complaint against her but the case was dispatched yesterday to another office of the same court. Ebadi's lawyer, Mohammad-Ali Dadkhah, yesterday pointed out that such complaints should first go before ordinary courts before being sent, if necessary, to higher courts. The Revolutionary Court is mainly responsible for cases endangering national security such as espionage.
