Iran Criticizes Israel's Call for Coalition against Tehran

Iran rejected Israel Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's call for the creation of an international coalition against Iran to stop Tehran's alleged development of a nuclear program. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid Reza Asefi said on Sunday 17th that Israel did not have the right to express such ideas because Israel is the source of tension and crisis in the region. The Israeli prime minister said last week that Israel would not unilaterally attack Iran's nuclear infrastructure but Sharon called for an international coalition to oppose Iran's development of nuclear technology. Sharon said Iran was only months away from being able to produce a nuclear weapon. Israel and the U.S. suspect Iran of using its nuclear development program to build nuclear weapons. Iran says its nuclear program is solely for peaceful purposes.
