UN Nuclear Chief Wants Access to Iran Military Sites
The newly re-elected head of the UN International Atomic Energy Agency, Mohamed ElBaradei, says Iran has failed to provide "sufficient" information on how close centrifuges for enriching uranium. El Baradei said today that Iran has provided some additional documentation, but this is not enough to answer "several remaining questions." Enriched Uranium can be used for developing nuclear weapons.
He urged Iran to allow IAEA experts to return to the Parchin military site, which they inspected once but have since been barred from returning to. And he said his agency wants access to another site, Lavizan-Shian.
These sites are among those where the United States suspects Iranian scientists have conducted research related to the development of nuclear weapons.
Meanwhile, Iran today welcomed the re-election of ElBaradei as IAEA head.
