NUCLEAR: Atomic Weapons and the Regime's Self Preservation – A Washington View

August 1, 2004 - “In its pursuit of nuclear weapons the Islamic Republic has only one goal in mind and that is self-preservation,” David Silverstein, Vice-President, Campus Education & Grassroots Programs at the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies in Washington, tells Radio Farda’s Washington correspondent Parichehr Farzam. “Access to nuclear weapons by supporters of terrorism, always comes with the risk of the weapons finding their ways to the hands of terrorist, however, there is no evidence that any terrorist group has been equipped with such weapons,” he adds. The Foundation for the Defense of Democracies is a non-profit organization based in Washington, D.C., that conducts research and education on the war on terrorism.
