NUCLEAR: US Has to Continue Pressing Iran to Give Nuclear Project, President Bush Says
August 9, 2004 - “We’ve got to continue to keep pressure on the government (of Iran), and help others keep pressure on the government (of Iran),” US President George Bush said on Monday. “The foreign ministers of Germany, France and Great Britain have gone in as a group to send a message on behalf of the free world that Iran must comply with the demands of the free world,” he added. The US government has for the past three years insisted that Iran was hiding an ambitious weapons program. The US attempts to have the board of governors of the UN International Atomic Energy Agency refer Iran to UN Security Council to impose sanctions have been unsuccessful, partly due to the European government’s resistance.
