August 26, 2004 - Foreign minister Kamal Kharrazi, in Manila on an official visit, said the international community should pressure Israel to join the NPT and destroy its nuclear arsenal. He said Iran’s nuclear program was peaceful. Kharrazi met with the Philippines president Arroyo on Thursday and invited Filipino companies to help Iran develop geothermal energy projects. Iran supplies 60,000 to 70,000 barrels of crude oil per day to the Philippines, representing about 25 percent of the country's fuel requirements. “Iran is willing to help in the peace process in the southern Philippine island of Mindanao," Kharrazi told reporters later.
