• The interior ministry lifted a ban on admitting unaccompanied women to hotel rooms across Iran, according to the interior minister’s advisor on women affairs Fakhosadat Mohtashamipour, who said that the ban was the work of conservative local officials and hotel operators who had deprived traveling women access to hotel rooms. However, she added, hotel mangers can only admit unaccompanied women after reporting them to the local branches of the police’s “public facilities” bureau.
