Italian minister of infrastructure and transportation Pietro Lunardi arrived in Tehran on Saturday at the helm of a 25-man delegation for a three day official visit and talks with transportation minister Ahmad Khorram.
Lurnardi, a former head of IBM in Europe, is expected to press for Italian participation in such projects as renovating Iranian airports’ flight control systems, upgrading ports’ technologies and providing new technology for Iranian shipping lines.
Italy has surpassed Germany as Iran’s top economic partner, and in the aftermath of Tehran’s crisis with London, Paris and Berlin, Rome-Tehran political relations are improving. (Ahmad Ra'fat, Rome)
