همايون مجد (واشنگتن)، مصاحبه با دكتر تقي ثقفي نژاد، است <ENGLISH><TITLE>Strength of the US Economy after September 11 & Remedies for the "Sick" Iranian Economy</TITLE><AUTHOR>Homayoun Majd, interview with Taghi Saghafinezhad</AUTHOR><TEXT>Certain sectors of the US economy, such as tourism and insurance, experienced a slowdown after the September 11 terrorist attacks, but the US economy in general is too great to be affected in the long run by those attacks, according to economy professor, Taghi Saghafinezhad of Maryland University in an interview with RFE/RL's Washington correspondent. Dr. Saghafinezhad says that, signs of a rebound are already visible in the US economy. He also predicts positive movement in the world economy as a whole during the next 12 months, as a result of a downturn in crude oil price. On the other hand, the Iranian economy, which is dependent on oil prices, will not benefit from the lower oil prices, says Dr. Saghafinezhad. He prescribes the privatization of the public sector businesses, openness, respect for laws and fighting the widespread corruption, as bitter remedies for the "sick" Iranian economy.</TEXT></ENGLISH>
