ENVIRONMENT: Dumping Hospital Trash in Caspian Sea Poses New Dangers, Ecologists Warn

Ecologists warned that the practice of dumping contaminated hospital trash in the Caspian Sea is endangering humans and species alike, according to the Cultural Heritage Foundation’s news agency. The radioactive materials found in hospital trash are particularly harmful to marine life, however, according to official studies, Iran has the smallest share in polluting the Caspian Sea, Tehran University ecologist Esmail Kahrom tells Radio Farda’s broadcaster Maryam Manzouri. The biggest polluter of the Caspian Sea is oil exploration and production, Tehran University professor Dr. Simin Naseri tells Radio Farda.
