August 30, 2004 - Najaf policemen arrested Hasan Qaedi, a photographer for the state-owned Fars news agency, the agency’s photo editor Majid Saidi tells Radio Farda’s broadcaster Mahmonir Rahimi. Qaedi was picked up by the Iraqi police as he was photographing around the Imam Ali shrine, even though he had a press card and proper credentials, he adds. Najaf police said he needed a local permit to take pictures in the city. They told Fars reporters accompanying Qaedi to leave the country as soon as possible, he says. Qaedi’s colleagues were told that Qaedi will be deported, he says.
