The Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer has died at age 104 in his hometown of Rio de Janeiro. Niemeyer was a member of a team of architects who designed the United Nations building in New York and is credited with helping to reshape Brazil's identity with the civic buildings he designed for the country’s capital, Brasilia. His work is well-known for its futuristic and abstract forms.
