Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev arrived
in Iran today, starting a three-day visit.
Aliyev was scheduled to meet with Iranian President Mohammad Khatami later today. Aliyev is also due to meet with Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khomeini during his visit.
A number of agreements are set to be signed during Aliyev's visit and the Azerbaijani president is expected to discuss the status of the Caspian Sea with a number of Iranian officials during his stay.
It is Aliyev's first visit to Iran since he became Azerbaijan's president.
