She said on her return to Geneva she will issue a report about the condition of the refugees living in Iran and her meetings with officials, women&apos;s organizations and Afghan refugee camps. (Mahmonir Rahimi) <b>US Denies IRIB Report on Bin Laden&apos;s Arrest</b> • The US Defense Department denied reports aired on Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB)&apos;s Pashto program, which claimed that the US has already taken in custody terror leader Osama Bin Laden, but plans to withhold the announcement until just before the US Presidential Elections. (Fatemeh Aman) <b>DM Sees US Promotion of Democracy Threat to Islam</b> • The US program to promote US style democracy in the Middle East was a threat against Islam, Defense minister Ali Shamkhani said after a meeting in Beirut with Lebanese DM Mahmoud Hammoud. “All the threats which have been brought up and are being made in different forms against Islam, the Islamic countries and the Middle East region, are conducted under the cover of America&apos;s greater Middle East initiative," he added. (Amir Armin) <b>Judiciary Steps Up Prosecution of Reformist Press</b> • After closing the reformist daily <i>Yaas Now</i>, Tehran judiciary&apos;s press court announced that hearing will be held on March 10 on all the complaints the judiciary have received against it. <i>Touse&apos;e</i>, another pro-reform daily, will go on trial on March 3. Meanwhile, <i>Shargh</i>, a new pro-reform daily, which was closed on February 18 along with <i>Yaas-e Now</i>, was allowed to resume publication. The press court acquitted head of Islamic Republic News Agency IRNA Abdollah Naseri, after he answered to the complaints filed by the armed forces joint chief, IRGC and Tehran revolutionary courts. The trial of jailed editor of daily <i>Asia</i> Iraj Jamshidi continued behind closed doors before bench 26 of the Tehran revolutionary courts. In another hearing today, the Tehran judiciary arraigned managing editor of the pro-reform daily <i>Mardomsalali</i> Mostafa Kavakebian with nine violations. Kavakebian said all charges against him had to do with items reprinted from other newspapers or official news agencies about the Guardians Council&apos;s vetting role in the elections. Also, the press court arraigned managing editor of the weekly <i>Chelcheraq</i> Fereydoun Amouzadeh-Khalili. The judiciary closed Tehran University&apos;s students&apos; monthly <i>Vaqayeh-e Etefaqieh</i> for carrying a harshly worded letter to the Supreme Leader. Meanwhile, the elections&apos; top vote getter in Tehran and head of the Majles conservative faction Gholamali Haddad Adel said newspapers which violate the law will be closed. (Farin Asemi) <b>Debate on Wage Haggling By Workers&apos; Groups</b> • Since the largest employer is the government, there is no link between wages and productivity, Tehran University economy professor <b>Jamshid Pazhouyan</b> tells <b>Radio Farda</b>. The lack of a link between wages and productivity has contributed to chronic low output, even in the private sector. But at a time when most of the labor force lives in poverty, haggling is the only way the for workers to receive better pay and benefits, head of the association of the Islamic labor councils <b>Hassan Sadeqi</b> says. Any pay increases received by workers had already been offset by the high inflation, and did nothing to increase their buying power, he adds. The bill increases government spending to 100 trillion rials, and authorizes higher foreign debt, freer foreign trade rules, tougher fight against goods smuggling, energy price hikes, and an increase in the prices of government-produced goods and services.
