Kamal Kharazi, Iran’s foreign minister said Tehran is ready to embark on negotiations with Washington. Talking to reporters in Tehran he continued to say that the only condition Tehran sets for these negotiations, be it on nuclear or other issues, is to have it in the spirit of mutual respect and understanding where we sit together as equal par and US would not try to impose its own views and preferences.
However, he added that while the US is talking about regime change in Iran, the proper condition for negotiation is by definition not ready.
His latter remarks were made with regards to what was said by some American officials about the fact that Iranian people deserve democracy and a better life. They emphasised that Washington will support the efforts of Iranian people in this direction.
