Iran Wants to Continue Talk with EU Despite Differences

Iran says it intends to continue nuclear talks with the European Union despite fundamental differences between the two sides. Iranian President Mohammad Khatami was quoted as saying Wednesday May 4th (on the news network Khabar ) that the EU did not present any "practical plans" in the nuclear talks. Still, the Iranian leader said Tehran has decided to continue the dialogue. Iran had set a deadline of Friday, May 6 to decide whether to press on with nuclear talks with the EU trio of Britain, France and Germany. Talks are expected to resume next month. The EU wants Teheran to extend its uranium enrichment suspension. Teheran however has so far rejected the demand. The White House said Iran would violate a commitment if it follows through on a vow to resume uranium enrichment. Tehran denies American charges it is trying to develop nuclear weapons.
