August 1, 2004 - In a confidential letter sent to the judiciary in 2000, the Guardians Co;uncil lifted the Majles deputies’ immunity, and allowed the judiciary to begin prosecuting those who criticized its trial of police officers for the attack on student dorms a year earlier, according to Rooydad, a website of the reformist party Islamic Iran Participation Front, which is headed by President Khatami’s brother. The letter was sent just before the judiciary sentenced Hamedan MP Hossein Loghmanian to four months in prison.
